My name is Lina Matulionyte, I was born in the small
town of Vilkija in Lithuania 1977. Now I am living in Somerset, Frome.
The beautiful nature, surrounding scenery
provides a great source of inspiration for my paintings. This is why my
pictures are dominated by wildlife and the sea. Other subjects that I am
currently working on are flowers, cats, signs of the zodiac. I am making greeting
cards and bookmarks as well.
My first painting was created in Lithuania
when I was 17 years old. It was of an ‘Angel with a candle in its
hands’, 1994. Very soon after I entered a competition in Troy, France and
my painting "the Cow in the Field" took third place 1995. My painting
is still exhibited in France and has generated a lot of interest in my work. I
have received many invitations to participate and organise exhibitions.
I have organized personal exhibitions of my
art in Lithuanian art schools, museums and galleries (1995-2005).
Latvia (1996), Germany (1998), Bath Central
Library (2009).
I have participated in several Group
Exhibitions:
International Exhibition in Austria
(1999), Bath ‘Art for Life’ Exhibitions 2007, 2009. Bath Victoria
Art Gallery ‘Bath Society Artists Exhibition’ 2009.
I
have also illustrated poetry books, CDs and book covers.
My originals are sold in Glastonbury
Galleries. I participate in Frome St. Catherine’s Hill Market where I
sell my greeting cards, bookmarks, reproductions and originals. Next Markets
are 4 October, 29 November.
